Income statement: Meaning & Definition

Income statement is a part of financial statements which consists the incomes, revenues and expenses of the business concern during the particular period of time (quarterly, semiannually or annually). It shows the financial performance of the business concern through net profit or net loss. Higher net profit indicates that the firm is financially performing well whereas lower profit indicates that the firm is not performing financially well and there is a need of financial control.
